Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research has appointed former Kames Capital director of European wholesale Steve Kenny as commercial director.

Kenny, who left Kames in October last year as a part of a team reshuffle ahead of Brexit, will have overall responsibility for distribution at Square Mile.

He will work with the company’s other directors and executive management committee to create and implement the strategy for the next stage of the business’s development.

Kenny (pictured) has more than 30 years’ financial services experience. He joined Kames in 2002 and during his time there developed and delivered the strategy for the company’s expansion across European and UK markets.

Prior to that, he held roles as head of business development at Britannic Asset Management and senior national account manager at Britannia Life.

Square Mile managing director Richard Romer-Lee said: “Steve is highly-regarded and incredibly well-connected across the asset management industry and brings with him a proven ability and tremendous energy for driving business development.

“We are really excited to welcome Steve to this team and to the invaluable contribution he will make in taking the business to the next stage of its development.”

In January, Square Mile appointed Investec Asset Management’s John Lester as business development director.
