Ruffer to open New York office

Adding to bases in London, Guernsey, and Paris

Ruffer has announced plans to open an office in New York, as the British asset manager aims to grow its presence across the Atlantic.

The firm manages around £26bn of assets, and has around 6,800 clients globally, over 70% of which are institutional clients.

In recent times Ruffer has demonstrated an aversion to equities, cutting exposure to record-low levels earlier this year.

The asset manager currently has offices in London, Guernsey, Edinburgh, and Paris.

Since the firm was founded by chairman Jonathan Ruffer (pictured) in 1994, it has produced an annualised rate of return of 8.5%, compared to the FTSE All-Share’s 7.1%.

The firm was approached for comment but declined.
