Revealed: All the winners of the 2022 PA Wealth Partnership Awards

Rewarding excellence where wealth and asset managers work together for the benefit of end-investors

|

LGT Wealth Management was named Wealth Manager of the Year and Schroders Asset Manager of the Year at the 2022 Portfolio Adviser Wealth Partnership Awards. LGT also picking up ‘highly commended’ accolades in two further categories while Phoebe Stone, the firm’s head of sustainable investing and head of intermediary investment, won the ESG Advocate (Wealth Management) award.

Now in their third year, the Wealth Partnership Awards were designed by Portfolio Adviser to recognise and reward excellence across key elements of the UK’s wealth and asset management businesses – including, crucially, where the two sectors work together in partnership for the benefit of end-investors. This year’s winners, set out in full below, were revealed today at a gala lunch in Banking Hall in the City of London.

Also shining on the wealth management side, Quilter Cheviot retained its Fund Selection Team of the Year title while the firm’s ‘Thrive initiative’ shared the Contribution to Wellbeing award with Time Investments’ Single Homeless Project partnership. Bordier UK won Client Services Team of the Year, Daniel Say, an investment analyst at Whitechurch Securities, was named Rising Star (Individual – Wealth Management) and Rainchq founder Davinia Tomlinson was recognised for her Contribution to Inclusivity.

Asset management sector winners meanwhile included M&G Investments’ Asia Pacific Equity team for Investment Team of the Year and Montanaro Asset Management for Distribution Team of the Year while EdenTree Investment Management picked up the ESG Advocate of the Year award. Zoe Deady, an investment analyst at Barings, was judged Individual Rising Star, Pacific Asset Management won the corresponding award for Business Rising Star and Federated Hermes won the Marketing/Digital Initiative of the Year accolade.

The extra mile

Earlier this year, Portfolio Adviser invited nominations for individuals, teams, companies and initiatives in the wealth and asset management sectors who its readers believed had gone the extra mile over the preceding 12 months. The nominees were then asked to complete a short questionnaire outlining why they thought they themselves deserved to win and the shortlists were created on the strength of these.

“The Wealth Partnership Awards would not have been possible without the time, insights and efforts of our splendid panel of industry experts so our sincere thanks go to all of them,” said Portfolio Adviser editor-in-chief Julian Marr. “And, for the avoidance of any doubt, I should confirm that no judge had any say in any category in which their company or a colleague was up for an award.”

Chaired by Marr, the judging panel comprised: Mike Barrett, consulting director at The Lang Cat; James Budden, director of marketing and distribution, Baillie Gifford; Bella Caridade-Ferreira, chief executive officer, Fundscape; Ian Chimes, head of global distribution, Liontrust Asset Management; Mike Coop, CIO EMEA, Morningstar Investment Management; Kirsten Hastings, editor, Portfolio Adviser; Gillian Hepburn, UK intermediary solutions director, Schroders; Dewi John, head of research, UK & Ireland, Refinitiv Lipper; Chris Jones, proposition director, Dynamic Planner; Mandy Kirby, chief strategist, City Hive; Alex Moore, head of collectives research, Rathbones; Justin Onuekwusi, head of retail investments, EMEA, Legal & General Investment Management; Lee Robertson, CEO, Octo Members Group; Mark Thomas, head of UK sales, Jupiter Asset Management; Philip Wellington, investment analyst, Portfolio Metrix; and Nick Wood, head of fund research, Quilter Cheviot.
