Ratanshi will take on the leadership of the RBC Wealth Management business, part of Royal Bank of Canada, from 1 May this year and replaces Stuart Rutledge who is taking on a new role with RBC based in Toronto.

Previously SVP for personal deposits and investments and personal and commercial banking, Ratanshi will be based in London and report to Doug Guzman, group head of wealth management.

Guzman thanked Rutledge for his four years running the team and said: “I am delighted to welcome Ashif to RBC Wealth Management. Having spent almost 30 years with the bank he brings not only considerable expertise to the role, but a deep understanding of RBS’s overarching strategy and business goals.

“Under Ashif’s leadership, RBC’s personal deposits, investments and direct investing businesses all experience significant growth over the past decade and we’re delighted that he will now apply that same focus on client service in a wealth management capacity.”
