Rathbones has added a dedicated equity analyst to Alexandra Jackson’s UK Opportunities fund.

Robbie Carr will be responsible for analysing new investment ideas alongside monitoring existing holdings using the fund’s proprietary equity “scorecard”.

He will be based in Rathbones’ London office and report to lead manager Jackson (pictured), who said Carr brings a “complementary skill set analysing UK growth equities”, thanks to his accounting and asset management background.

Carr spent the last five years as an equity analyst at Mirabaud Asset Management, working on its UK High Alpha fund. Before this he qualified as a chartered accountant while working in international tax at EY. He has an MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge and is a CFA charterholder, as well as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).

“Our funds team has always worked closely, and Robbie’s enthusiasm and knowledge will be an excellent addition to this as our fund grows,” Jackson said.

Rathbones UK Opportunities recently bagged an Elite rating from Fundcalibre, which highlighted Jackson as  an “exciting up and coming UK manager” targeting quality growth businesses.

Although, recently, Jackson’s fund has seen performance dip, landing in the bottom quartile over one year, over three years it has returned 35.6% against the 23.1% IA UK All Companies average, according to Trustnet.
