Gallagher was appointed to LGIM America’s board in May 2017 and will remain in that role following her appointment to the board that represents the global business.

Gallagher used to be responsible for the Ford Motor Company’s $66bn in retirement assets, including 68 defined benefit and 65 defined contribution plans across 32 countries. She was responsible for the $41bn US fund, which was one of the largest corporate DB plans in the country.

LGIM chief executive Mark Zinkula said Gallagher has added ”significant value” to the US business. ”We look forward to leveraging her experience and perspective to achieve LGIM’s strategic objectives globally,” Zinkula said.

Thirty eight per cent of LGIM’s board is now female.
