Old Mutual Wealth names tech chief

Old Mutual Wealth has announced the appointment of Leon Deist as its chief information officer as its upcoming split from Old Mutual approaches.

From 1 December 2016 Deist will assume responsibility for overseeing technology and change functions, reporting to chief operating officer Steve Braudo.

He joins from Liberty Group in South Africa, where he was responsible for technology transformation, digital strategy and shared service operations.  Prior to that he was director of enablement at Virgin Money in South Africa and a founding member of Arivia, a technology outsource service provider.

Old Mutual Wealth is due to undergo a ‘managed separation’ from Old Mutual as the group demerges into a number of smaller entities.

Braudo said: “As we prepare for managed separation from Old Mutual plc we are building the skills and capabilities we need for the future. This is an exciting time for our organisation and we need to ensure that our technology capability is organised and strengthened to be ready for our independent future.  Leon’s wealth of experience will enhance the strong team that we already have here.”
