Man Group appoints Wall Street titan

Man Group has appointed Zoe Cruz as non-executive director, once-renowned as Fortune’s highest paid female and ranked among Forbes’ most powerful women in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

The industry heavyweight joins Man Group with more than 35 years’ experience. She is currently a non-executive director of Old Mutual, where she serves on the risk and remuneration committees, and payments business Ripple.

At Man Group, she will also be a member of the board’s remuneration committee.

Nicknamed internally as the Cruz missile” and “Czarina” for her unstoppable nature, she was co-president of Morgan Stanley between 2005 and 2007. She spent 25 years of her career at the investment bank, where she held various senior roles, including managing director in 1990 and global head of fixed income, foreign exchange and commodities from 2001 until 2005.

After leaving Morgan Stanley, Cruz continued to climb up the Wall Street ladder and founded Voras Capital Management in 2009 and ran it as chief executive until 2013.

She now heads up her own single-family office based in New York, EOZ Global.

Cruz is also a member of the Bowdoin College Investment Committee and the Advisory Council of the Harvard Kennedy School Center for Business and Government.

Commenting on the appointment, Ian Livingston, chairman of Man Group, said: “Zoe’s senior-level experience within global financial institutions, extensive knowledge of investment management and financial markets, and her strong US perspective will make her a valuable adviser and contributor to the development of Man Group’s business.”

Man Group confirmed that Cruz’s roles at the firm will be effective 1 June.
