LGT Wealth Management has hired John Godfrey, a former senior investment director at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, to head up its newly-established office in Scotland.

Godfrey has over 24 years’ experience in the wealth management industry, including regional centre head at Barclays Wealth Management in Edinburgh.

LGT Wealth Management’s Edinburgh office is its fourth operation across the UK, which joins teams in London, Bristol and Jersey.

The firm said Scotland has been identified as an “important area to further support the high level of service provided to clients locally”.

This is due to the country’s “vibrant, growing economy, history of entrepreneurial spirit and reputation as one of the largest regional wealth markets in the UK”.

Expansion

LGT Wealth Management has been working closely with financial advisers and professional intermediaries in Scotland for several years, but it now plans to grow the team locally while offering a full wealth management service, including portfolio management, as well as international and specialist client services.

Andrew Davies, partner and head of regional development at LGT Wealth Management, said: “As the business continues to grow, we recognise the importance of having a physical presence across the different regions.

“Scotland is an important area for us; we have a number of clients in the region already. Opening an office in Edinburgh will enable us to provide a better service and support to this market. John’s on-the-ground knowledge and wealth of experience will be invaluable to the success of this growth opportunity.”
