The group has promoted Steven de Vries to head of global financial institutions and Ignacio de la Maza to head of Continental Europe wholesale & Latin America.

The pair are both from the Henderson side of the business with De La Maza having formerly worked at New Star Asset Management, which was taken over by Henderson in 2009.

They will both report to the group’s longstanding head of distribution for EMEA & Latin America, Greg Jones, who is also a New Star alumnus.

The group added it was planning to make an additional hire in the coming months to support de Vries.

Henderson merged with US group Janus Capital in a merger earlier this year, with the process finalising late last month with the combined firm’s delisting from the London Stock Exchange.

A statement from the group announcing the appointments said it now had a combined distribution team presence of “almost 600 individuals”.

“In these mature markets it is vital to maintain and broaden our appeal in global financial relationships and wholesale distribution,” said Jones.

“Now, with the merger complete, and at least a quarter of our work force placed in distribution, we hope to consolidate our position and continue to build on our strong client base.”
