Janus Henderson has raided three of its rivals as it bulks out its UK distribution team as one of its alumnus joins River & Mercantile.

Mark Buckley is to join from Kames Capital as UK south east associate director. At Kames he was responsible for business relationships in London and the south east.

Christopher Garcia joins as business development manager. Previously, he worked at Old Mutual Wealth covering north England, Scotland and international offshore clients.

Dipesh Amin joins as UK sales executive from Aberdeen Standard Investments. Amin had also worked at Aviva Investors and Friends Life.

Janus Henderson head of UK retail distribution Simon Hillenbrand (pictured) said the hires aim to build out the asset manager’s wholesale distribution within the UK.

Ex-Janus man joins River & Mercantile

Janus Henderson’s appointments come as River & Mercantile announces it has hired one of the global asset manager’s alumnus for its distribution team.

David Hanratty will takeover the global head of distribution role from James Barham, who became group chief executive in July 2019.

Alongside asset management, Hanratty will be responsible for distribution in the advisory and fiduciary management, macro and liability-driven investments and structured equity divisions.

While he was most recently managing director at Pioneer Investments, he was previously a sales and marketing director at Janus’s UK wealth operation.

Barham said River & Mercantile is looking to step up its distribution team and increase the global accessibility of its investment strategies.
