The latest appointees, Tom O’Hara and Tom Lemaigre, will both report to John Bennett (pictured), head of European Equities, and will provide analyst support to the wider team’s funds.

The pair join recent hire Andrew McCarthy who was brought on board to co-manage the European long-only funds with Bennett.

The hiring spree comes as the asset manager is looking to rebuild the European equities team following a spate of departures.

The fund group lost Nick Kissack and Bill Casey to rival Schroders last year. The duo, who provided fund manager support to the broader equity team, left Janus Henderson to take over for Philip Matthews as co-managers on the Schroder UK Alpha Plus mandate in March.

Asim Rahman, who co-managed the £2.2bn Henderson European Selected Opportunities fund with Bennett, also exited the firm at the beginning of this year.

O’Hara joins from Exane BNP Paribas where he was vice president undertaking metals, mining and steel equity research. He has also held roles at Reburn and Citigroup.

Lemaigre is from RWC Partners where he worked as an investment analyst covering fundamental bottom-up research of pan European equities with a particular focus on consumer sectors. He also previously worked at Redburn.

Commenting on the latest hires Bennett said, “Tom O’Hara and Tom Lemaigre are outstanding analysts and bring clear complementary skills to the European Equities team.

“With stock selection at the core of what we do, their proven talent in idea generation will greatly enhance our European Equities franchise.”

O’Hara will join Janus Henderson on 16 May 2018, followed by Lemaigre on 10 July 2018.
