There were headwinds for the economy but opportunities in the stock market.
The same is also true today though what has moved on is possibly investors’ views of the world. The first few months of last year were positive, the second half was anything but; the start to this year has been strong, so where should UK investors be looking in the second half of 2012?
One overlap is the continued search for income, with strong balance sheets giving companies a solid base from which to consider returning some of it to their shareholders so the role of dividends and sources of income played a large part of the discussions.
Each of the fund managers speaking took their own individual investment style, aiming for a different outcome, while all using UK equities as a shared universe.
