Fundsmith is targeting independent financial advisers with the hire of a sales director from Franklin Templeton Investments.

Scott Chivers will become the sixth member of the sales and marketing team when he becomes IFA sales director.

At Franklin Templeton he was a business development manager. Chivers previously worked in investment sales at M&G Investments and IFDS.

Currently, sales directors Conrad Rey, who has been with the business since inception, is responsible for retail and intermediary sales, but Chivers will be the first salesperson solely focused on advisers.

Fundsmith managed £18bn at the end of 2018.

Fast growth in IFA sales

Fundsmith founder and chief executive Terry Smith said the number of IFAs investing client money in the boutique’s funds is “fast growing”.

“[Chivers] has many longstanding relationships and will greatly help our efforts to communicate Fundsmith’s long term investment approach to this investment community,” Smith said in a press release.

Chivers has the investment management certificate (IMC) and a diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute. He graduated from the University of Essex with a BSc (Hons) in Financial Management.
