Fidelity hires head of stewardship and sustainable investing

Fidelity International has appointed Michael Gibb to the newly-created role of head of stewardship and sustainable investing.

Reporting to Paras Anand, CIO equities, Europe, Gibb will manage Fidelity’s strategy and policies on engagement, voting and ESG integration across its active product range. His role will involve leading Fidelity’s existing ESG team and integrating ESG into the investment processes.

Gibb (pictured) joins Fidelity with 27 years’ experience and recently completed an MBA from the University of Edinburgh Business School, focusing on ESG engagement and influence between investors and investee companies.

Prior to this, Gibb began his career as a portfolio manager in Asian equities at investment companies including Martin Currie Investment Management, Credit Suisse and Gartmore Investment Managers.

Anand said: “Michael brings with him a wealth of experience and fresh perspective as we continue to identify and engage with companies on a range of factors that influence their sustainability.

“He will be a welcome addition to the team and lead on the integration, engagement, voting and reporting of ESG across all asset classes at Fidelity.”
