Equity allocations rise as sentiment turns

As markets continued to rise, past unease about the sky-high valuations seemed to waver among managers of medium-risk portfolios during Q3.

The fear of missing out turned sentiment towards equities during the quarter, as more and more investors wanted a slice of the high returns on offer.

This is in stark contrast to the mood earlier this year. Equity exposure across medium- risk portfolios fell between Q1 and Q2 on the back of ongoing uncertainty. Many had expected a correction, if not in the short term then almost certainly in the medium term. However, this correction has simply not materialised.

Instead, global growth has remained strong and markets have continued their steady tick upwards, with equity exposure in medium-risk portfolios up by more than 2% during the third quarter, at 52.33%.
