Deutsche Bank has made becoming one of the world’s top five wealth management firms its focus, according to reports.

A memo sent to staff by wealth unit head Fabrizio Campelli revealed the plan.  

A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the existence and content of the memo.

In it Campelli told colleagues “an ever more challenging regulatory and control environment” necessitates continuous investment by the firm.

Deutsche Bank’s wealth business will have units for each of four regions according to the memo; Germany which will be headed up by Joachim Haeger, the rest of the EMEA area headed by Marco Bizzozero, the Americas led by Chip Packard and Asia headed by Ravi Raju.

Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management had €90bn in assets under management as of the end of 2015. This has been rising rapidly over recent years, beginning 2013 at €72bn.
