Based in London, Cohen will deliver discretionary portfolio management and advisory services to private clients, drawing on the firm’s broader global resources and expertise through its centralised investment process.

Cohen joins from Sanlam Private Investments where he was a member of the asset allocation committee and responsible for managing a core team of investment professionals as head of private clients for three offices in the North of England.

Cohen brings three decades of portfolio management experience with him. Having started his career at Cazenove & Co as a private client investment manager, he went on to spend 13 years as an institutional stockbroker with UBS Warburg.

In 2002, Cohen returned to private client investment management as a director and chief investment officer with Border Asset Management, where he was responsible for growing funds under management and developing the firm’s investment process.

“Charles brings an exceptional track record of delivering tailored investment solutions and client service, which makes him a welcome addition to our wealth management operations,” said David Esfandi, CEO of Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management in the UK.

“As we continue to expand our offering for both advisors and clients, we are increasingly attracting established and reputable professionals to our differentiated platform,” he added.

Canaccord also hired Duncan Reid from Investec Wealth & Investment Management as a senior investment director in its UK wealth management business last month.
