Brooks Macdonald has nabbed Jonty Warneken from Sanlam to become senior investment director and head of the North of England.

The regional appointment is a new role.

At Sanlam, Warneken was head of the discretionary portfolio management team in the North. Previously, he helped create a wealth division at Ansbacher & Co, and ran a boutique investment management company that developed its own investment products and provided advisory services to small businesses.

He has more than 20 years’ industry experience.

Brooks Macdonald co-head of UK investment management John Wallace said the hire would particularly benefit the teams in Manchester and Leeds.

Three investment directors were appointed to the Brooks Macdonald Leeds office in October, while six specialists have been added to the investment teams in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Hampshire, London and Taunton.

Warneken is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, and a member of the Personal Finance Society, the Society of Mortgage Professionals and the Chartered Insurance Institute.
