She will work as a private client investment manager in a newly created role, focusing on providing advisory service for both discretionary and advisory mandates for private clients. The stockbroking and asset management services provider has £3.8bn under management.

“Jeannette is another high calibre recruit for the company, whose wide skill set and experience will be an asset to our growing investment management business," chairman Giles Hargreave commented.

Cottrell joined Bestinvest in 2006, and the firm said it is currently undertaking a raft of hires. In February, Bestinvest announced it was merging with Tilney to create a £9bn wealth group.

“We’re on a major recruitment campaign at the moment in financial planning and we also have a number of positions we’re hiring for in the investment advice team in London,” a Bestinvest spokesperson said.

Prior to this, Cottrell worked as a financial planner at Deloitte & Touche and Barclays.
