Daniel McHugh, who had been at SLI 18 years, joined today and reports to Aviva Investors Real Estate chief executive Ed Casal.

The group has also appointed Melanie Collett as head of real estate asset management from Round Hill Capital. She will report into McHugh.

Casal said the pair’s experience would be invaluable as the real estate team looks to expand their position in the UK and globally.

McHugh will be responsible for all direct real estate activity in the UK, leading the firm’s specialist fund management, asset management and transaction teams.

In a press announcement, Aviva Investors said McHugh was instrumental in repositioning and significantly growing SLI’s real estate business in Europe since 2008. He joined SLI in 2000.

Collet joins the business next week and will be responsible for the firm’s sector-focused asset management teams, development management and project management capabilities.

Collet was head of asset management at Round Hill Capital from November 2015 to March 2018, managing the European portfolio on behalf of US private equity partners.

Previously, she spent 12 years at GE Capital Real Estate; latterly as head of European underwriting where she was responsible for evaluating transactions, overseeing debt structuring and underwriting and growing key client relationships.
