Hardeep Dogra has also managed absolute return funds for Schroders

Alliance Bernstein has added another emerging market debt manager to its stable as it seeks to build out its global team and raise its City profile.

Hardeep Dogra will be based in the firm’s London office and report to Shamaila Khan (pictured) who is the director of emerging market debt.

Dogra joins the team after three years at BNP Paribas Asset Management where he was responsible for alpha generation for EM sovereign hard currency strategies for the French Group.

Before this, he was a portfolio manager at Schroders for five years, running absolute return style funds and an actively managed, indexed currency fund. He has also held roles at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse.

Khan touted Dogra’s experience in hard currency and emerging market debt and said adding another person to the London office would help the global team strengthen its risk management capabilities.

“Emerging market debt has posted strong returns so far this year, but we’re cognisant that there are a number of idiosyncratic risks across the asset class that need to be navigated; Hardeep will play a crucial part in helping us do this,” she said.

“By further expanding our presence in London, we are adding a vital risk-management resource in a location which bridges the time difference between Asia and the Americas to further accentuate our global presence.”
