Mein started at Parmenion in 2007 and was instrumental in building the business up to the £1.9bn in assets under management that it holds today, culminating in its acquisition by Aberdeen Asset Management, which was completed earlier this month.

Before Parmenion, Mein spent eight years as operations director at Rowan & Co Capital Management.

Parmenion praised his vision to harness new technology, supporting the widest possible choice of professional investment proposition, to make life simpler and business more efficient for financial advisers. Ultimately, his goal was to improve the outcome of investing for retail customers.

Rennie Miller, executive chairman of Parmenion, commented: “Richard’s fundamental belief was that financial services should be bought and not sold and he was mindful that the world over, people are looking for more modern and efficient means of buying products and services.”

Mein is survived by his wife, son and daughter. He was 52 years old.
